Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product is a true winner.... First of all, I am a Landscape Architect and own a large landscape construction company. I came home one day and my wife brought home this HSA 25 STIHL trimmer to use on our bushes. I already had 2 of your power gas trimmers that we love, but they are too hard for my wife to handle. I wanted to laugh at her purchase as I had purchased some smaller battery trimmers in the past and they were a joke, but didn’t dare until I tried it. Well, this HDA 25 is unbelievable. Not only does it cut well, the battery lasts as long as you will want to trim at one time. I have not run it out of power yet, and it does a wonderful job as long as you don’t try to trim some 2-3 year old thicker branches. I highly recommend this tool for new growth on Bushes and especially on ground covers like Vinca and Euonymus. I AM A BELIEVER!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light weight, easy to handle. This small but mighty tool is exactly what I was looking for. I want detailed trimming with a machine that would not wear me out. Changing attachments is extremely easy. It is small without feeling cheaply made or wimpy. I use it for hedge trimming, edging and tight garden area grass cutting. So far no job has been too difficult with this sweet little tool.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I hate to say this, but this is basically a "toy". Doesn't have much strength to cut anything thicker than a dandelion. Awkward buttons to keep the thing running makes it very difficult for people with arthritis to use. Looks nice, and the thought is nice, but the actual unit leaves a lot to be desired. Convenient buttons and higher cutting strength would help. Also, the gaps between the teeth really limit its use on all but the smallest weeds.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product, just what I needed Great for shaping honeysuckle hedges. What used to take over an hour with shears, I now do in 15-20 minutes with better results. Great for touch ups.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't buy this if you are looking for a real tool At a Stihl Dealer day, the Stihl rep recommended this tool to cut down large grasses in my yard that includes stalks that are 1/4-3/8" in diameter, which I told him about. He said if the stalks fit between the tines, it would cut them. I questioned him several times since the battery seemed small as did the tool. He said "it's all about the gear ratio". Well after fully charging the unit, I went out to cut the grasses down and it immediately stopped working once I pushed it into the grasses. If I cut 1 stalk at a time it would work but if I put more than one stalk in between the tines, it stopped! What a joke. It's like taking a pair of hand scissors to cut your lawn, you can do it, but you wouldn't want to!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Gen 1 missing the mark Great idea and good on topiary work. Only one battery comes with the kit with a run time of 110 minutes and a 3-5 hours recharge time. Need a second battery cell at a cost of nearly half the kit cost. Unit would be much easier to handle if it had a trigger lock. Constant trigger pressure causes some hand cramping. Well built unit but lacking some thought on use comfort and operation duration.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disapponted Had a local dealer order this after seeing an ad online. Picked it up a week or so later and charged the battery overnight. We have tall decorative grasses that grow 4-5 feet tall from clumps about a foot or so in diameter and trim them back each spring to about 6". In the past I used a sharp butcher knife and this HSA 25 shear looked like just what we needed. The shrub shears didn't hardly work at all and we used the grass clipper attachment and they would only cut less than half a blade width at a time. Did get the job done but what a disappointment in a Stihl product. It needs more power and a faster blade speed.
